Boos for Boozer!!!

Having been born and raised in Utah...there are 2 dominant religions: 1) LDS and 2) The Utah Jazz. I have been a firm believer in both religions for some time now. I am beginning to use a common practice in describing my being a fan of the Jazz. Let me give you an example to explain what exactly I mean. Let's take Michael Jordan and his Chicago Bulls. If you are at all a fan of basketball, you have to love and respect Michael Jordan (and I most definitely do)...but as for his Bulls, we're talking about a different story (I absolutely loath them). Now let's take this example, flip it around, and apply it to my love of the Jazz. Rather than loving and respecting just 1 player (Jordan in the example), I love and respect 14 players on the Jazz, and the odd man out is Boozer.

I have a tough time respecting an individual who plays in the NBA, for a formidable (I'm biased) team such as the Utah Jazz, making the millions that players make, yet he does not show any emotion or love for the game (not trying for a cliche or anything, I'd just like it to look like he enjoys what he does).

My 7 year old son plays Jr. Jazz (rec. league) and we constantly work on playing your hardest and giving it your all no matter if you are losing big, winning big, or are in a dog fight. He, my son, began commenting after a couple of games into the season how Boozer played hard when they were winning or when the game was close, but when they were down he would give up. I firmly believe in the meaning behind Charles Barkley and his infamous "I'm not a role model" commercial. I don't need Carlos Boozer, or any other NBA player, to teach my son to play with heart, that's my job. However, it is disappointing to see someone who obviously worked very hard to get to where he is today abandon his work ethic because he "has earned it" or any other "reason".

Sometime during the current season, the topic of what to do with Boozer, Paul Millsap and Memot Okur has come up at every water cooler in the state. At first I sided with Boozer, having the 20 and 10 argument on my side. In the 12 games he played in this year, he looked quicker than usual, and was putting up 20 and 11...then came the "injury" and it was all downhill from there. Any Jazz fan knows that when Boozer gets hurt, it is going to take him a substantial amount of time to be back on the court. Then came his announcement that he would be leaving after this season, and the timing of his announcement was puzzling at first, followed by infuriating and now purely comical (why would we want him around?). The discussion around water coolers is now why the Jazz don't simply decommission Boozer (similar to the Knicks and Marbury situation) and give Millsap his starting position for the next 4-5 years.

Long Blog Short: Let the Boos for Boozer rain down in the ESA!

Next I'll tackle Deron Williams and why he IS deserving of being an All-Star!

I have fervently battled against the blogging world for sometime now...and as it seems have lost the battle. I will do my best to keep anyone and everyone up to date on my life.

For now, this will have to do.
